Captrain transports disinfectant material to Poland

Captrain is transporting 1,000 tons of ethanol from the port of Rotterdam to Pleszew in Poland on May 4-5.

The ethanol is used in the production of disinfectants and is urgently needed in Poland due to the high levels of demand for disinfectants caused by the covid-19 outbreak.

Captrain said rail was much more environmentally friendly than road transport, required comparatively fewer personnel for the quantity of goods transported, and meant cross-traffic operations could be implemented quickly.

Jérôme Méline, managing director, Captrain Deutschland GmbH, commented: “If train and shunting services, wagons and infrastructure are optimally coordinated, the railways can fully demonstrate their strengths and get considerable transport volume off the road,”
